Like everyone else I am forced to take this class because I passed the WPA but not with flying colors but it's okay #teamIGOTTA8ONTHEWPA for the win, WE GOT THIS GUYS. People that blog on the same gmail account together, get good grades together! Now I say "forced" because I honestly HATE writing essays. For some people it's second nature but for me I will literally take hours on 1 sentence. An hour to jot down the first 4 words, another hour to revise those 4 words, another hour to realize what I spent 2 hours writing and revising was idiotic and deleting it all, than settling for whatever comes to mind next. I have the most severe case of writers block out there. But after hearing that we will be branching out into other genres of writing I feel at ease, finally some change in our writing!!!

Well I am very boring. If I didn't go to school I'd probably die from boredom. I'm like a super grandma for my age. I've grown to hate alcohol, staying out later than 11pm and anything else college people do now a days. Im weird, I don't know how or why but something about hangovers and walking in the subzero weather early in the morning just isn't fun. One thing I know for sure about me is that I prefer change. I lose interest in things quick so new is good! Regardless if I'm at school, work, or at home I can't do the same thing day in and day out. Like at school, since you can't change classes throughout the semester :(, I change seats every now and then. Everyone basically designates their own assigned spot on the first day of school but I sometimes sit in other seats to change it up for myself. Regardless if i get a weird look from the person that usually sits in the seat I just sat in. At work I can't really change anything because I work at the superior court and everything has it's own specific procedure, so I find different ways to hide and kill time. Don't get me wrong I finish all my work, I just hide and kill time during my down time, which happens to be all the time.

Other then all of that good stuff, this semester is actually a game changer in my life. I've set goals for myself to help me succeed and hopefully help me pick up good habits for the next coming semesters. I'm trying to pick up reading as a hobby (so if there are any good recommendations, I'm all ears!). I am also trying to attend every single one of my classes this semester and cure that virus everyone seems to get called PROCRASTINATION! I honestly can't think of any good excuse, that I've convinced myself the pass 2 years, that resulted in me ditching class. As for procrastination, well that's just something that takes a lot of will power.
I am also hoping to network more these upcoming semesters because I feel like thats one of the major keys in life. Even with a degree, I feel like having connections will make it easier to get your "dream" job or reach whatever goals you have set for your future. But thats just me, I'm not trying to convince you that you need to talk to everybody that crosses your path with intentions to like start a business in the future or anything, though that would be nice.
Well this was my first blog ever so if you made it this far i applaud you for listening to me ramble and talk about I don't even know what. I'm skimming what I wrote and it's just a whole lot of things everywhere. I don't feel like blogging will be a hobby I'll ever pick up but 1 down 9 more to go!
Praying this semester will be good to all of us!
Brenda.
Hiiiii Brenda!
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice getting to know you through this blog. You seem to be a very funny, outgoing and down to earth girl. I laughed through pretty much all of your blog! I can totally relate on writers block. When it comes to writing, I draw a blank. Starting is the absolute worst worst part. Just like you said, I am so glad that in this class there will be different kinds of writing other than academic. I am so tired of the "read this passage and use quotes to back up your argument" kind of thing. Like you, blogs may not be my thing but it is a way better alternative :)
I think your dog Lucky is adorable. I have a dog too...well two dogs! Their names are Abbie and Tucker. If you go to my blog you will see a picture of them as well. Great minds think alike!
You and I seem to be very similar in the sense that we consider ourselves old ladies and like to be in bed by 11. Let me tell you, you are not alone. I hardly ever drink or party. My idea of a great night is to lie in bed watching Netflix!
I hope when you decide to switch seats in class, it will be next to me! I would love to get to know you more.
See you in class,
Allison Starr
Hey Brenda!
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely switch to computer science!! LOL I'm a computer science major and we could totally use more girls in this area! I'm the exact same way essays, oh my gosh, you couldn't have said it better. It literally takes starring at the computer to think of words to write. But it also doesn't help when you start the night before it's due... oops. Your dog is so cute! I have a German Shepherd and he's cute but super crazy at the same time.
I get how you feel in trying to pick up reading as a hobby. It has never been a hobby of mine, ever since I was little. I've always preferred math or science instead of reading or writing. The only type of books I actually do like to read though are celebrity autobiographies! I'm a pop culture geek and love reality shows and all that stuff and I like to learn more about this person I think I already know. They get very interesting sometimes, you should try it!
Hope to sit next to you in class one day when you switch seats!!
~Victoria
I love the sense of humor in this blog, Brenda. I do hope 305 isn't so very terrible. EF
